About Me
My Journey
Edward Busuttil DVM CertAVP(EM) PgCertVPS MRCVS
I was born in Liverpool and brought up in Malta, surrounded by animals at home, and on my grandfather's farm. I graduated in 2015 from the Szent Istvan University in Budapest as part of the English cohort, before working in equine-only referral and first opinion practices in California, Shropshire, Rutland and Sussex, treating happy hacks to international sport horses.
As both an ambulatory and hospital-based veterinarian, I enjoyed working up lameness and poor performance cases. I realized quite early that diagnosis and treatment of a specific lesion did not necessarily make the horse better, which led to me looking into a more holistic approach towards my cases. I therefore started working more closely with the other paraprofessionals involved with horse’s care and looking into complementary therapies that could help to improve the outcome, decrease the recurrence and improve the performance of the horse.
I have a keen interest in personal improvement, obtaining a number of other certifications since graduation:
Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice, with a focus on Internal Medicine through the University of Liverpool.
Certificate in Veterinary Acupuncture through the Chi Institute.
Professional Diploma in Animal Chiropractic through Options for Animals.
I am of the belief that working closely with you and the other members involved with the care of your horse, including your veterinarian, physiotherapist, saddler, and farrier, is essential in improving the overall outcome and getting the best possible result.
